The fly by…day nineteen/twenty.

So last night I came home, took a shower and settled into my favorite chair to write a post. I woke up at 3:40am, with the computer still in my lap and Tully sleeping on my feet. Needless to say, my well intentions simply did not happen. I think you will understand.

Tomorrow is a another long day and I am dreading it but probably not for the reasons you think. Each year Scott and I hire a summer staff which generally consists of 6 people who work with us over the season which can run about 3-4 months depending when we go on-sale with tickets. The end is always bittersweet, you spend lots of hours together, and this year is no exception when those hours lead you to realize what an amazing group of people you have been blessed to spend time with over those months, it becomes hard to say goodbye. Matt, Evan, Molly, Dan the Man, Casey, and Melissa thank you for everything over the last few months, remember the golden rule: What happens in the box office, STAYS in the box office!

I began to think back over my 13 years in this position and I think of all the amazing people that have come through my world in this capacity and  soon I am laughing and smiling my fool head off, reminded that so many of them have kept in touch, some have become great friends and one became my twin. That’s right Lauren started working for me in the box office like 10 years ago! That is part of my benefits package that is kinda priceless so  as I went through pictures tonight, I am reminded how much these folks have changed my life and made me a better person in so many ways. Of course after looking at so many memories what follows is a totally self indulgent stroll down memory lane. So many people I don’t have pictures of who were simply amazing! If you worked in the box office at any point with me, you are being thought of with lots of love right now! Here are a few I do have pictures of…

This lady kept us in line for many years, and baked the best cakes I have ever had! We love her so much, we celebrated “Judi Day” each year!

Charmaine ran my first 5k with me, became my solid ground when I was scared to walk to the gym's swimming pool in my bathing suit at the beginning of the dog-lbs project and is one of the most beautiful people inside and out I know. Hiring her was the best decision ever, she went on to run the education department!

Matt would also show me that sometimes you just need to hold. One night at the gym, I was struggling to finish my run. He slowed down his machine and held my hand the rest of the way. Yeah, it makes me tear up every time I think about it. Oh I love that boy.
